New Venues Wanted
PowerPints launched in Austin, TX in 2019 and expanded to Amsterdam NL in 2022. The show has a proven format for bringing fresh, enthusiastic audiences and could be great in your town or at your venue.
To launch in a new location, we need two key ingredients: a supportive venue and an experienced, talented producer/host. Read the requirements below. If you have both (or you have one, and a good idea for the other) then get in touch!
The Venue:
The venue should meet the requirements below and be excited to help promote the show. Financial arrangements can be discussed.
Seating for at least 50 and a stage (preferably raised) with video and audio connections
A working projector (obviously), ideally with a “comfort monitor”
A podium or bar stool for the laptop
A microphone, if needed for the space
At least 30 minutes before the show (preferably 60) for setup, tech check, and teardown
Needed staff: bartenders, door staff, and an AV technician
The Producer/Host:
Producing and hosting PowerPints means a lot more than MCing the show. The person (or people) in charge have the following duties:
Soliciting fresh presenters for every show
Communicating with the presenters, collecting their slides, and assembling the slide deck
Helping promote the show via social media and your own performer community
Hosting the show, which includes:
Coordinating with the venue to ensure AV is working, seats are arranged, etc.
Presenting a fresh PowerPoint of your own to kick things off
Introducing each presenter
Conducting the audience poll
Staying in touch with PowerPints about what’s going well and not-so-well
